(2009) 16mm Film on HD Video
Responding Environs on Vimeo
In this film we see a puddle of water on a country road in a bleak landscape. The length of the film is determined by the time it takes the puddle to evaporate and disappear. The camera follows their resolution by moving away slowly and showing by that more and more of the surrounding environs. Staged by a backwards movement and thus the permanent extension of the image area, the appearance of the landscape changes continually. The preconditions of nature, the limitations of technology and narration reduced to the bare minimum necessary, portray a landscape that seems to consume itself.
