Responding Environs starts with the close-up of a pool of water that has shaped on the asphalt surface of a meandering road. Simultaneously as the water evaporates, the camera zooms out revealing slowly the surrounding landscape. Through the course of the video, what was initially the main target of the camera gradually shifts. As the heat rises and the watery surface disappears, the desolation of the landscape surfaces and becomes visible. This slow paced shift unveils traces of civilization. The deserted street, the individual buildings, the traces of urban periphery in the horizon disclose the absence of the human factor in the surroundings. Only the sounds of nature can be heard.
